2024 U17 Women’s World Cup: Zambia and Kenya Begin with Losses.

Zambia and Kenya faced tough starts at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, suffering 1-0 and 2-0 defeats to Brazil and England in Groups D and C, respectively, on Thursday evening.

The Copper Princesses returned to the Mundial after a 10-year absence, having exited the group stage in Costa Rica with just one win against the tournament hosts at that time.

However, they were unable to secure a second win, as Juju’s 19th-minute goal handed the Brazilians a hard-fought victory.

On the other hand, the Harambee Starlets were making their World Cup debut but fell short, with goals from Lola Brown and Lauryn Thompson securing the three points for the English side.

The Zambians will aim to reclaim all three points in their next group fixture against Poland, while the Kenyans will face North Korea.

Earlier in the day, Poland and Japan played to a goalless draw, while North Korea triumphed over Mexico with a 4-1 victory.
