In the trilogy of Venom movies, Eddie Brock (portrayed by Tom Hardy) is not only the human host of the alien symbiote Venom, but also goes through a journey of self-discovery with his other half. In “Venom: The Last Dance”, the final installment of the trilogy, Eddie and Venom go on the run together, sharing a bond, camaraderie, and an action-packed adventure.
In “Venom: The Last Dance”, Eddie and Venom make their way to New York City after an intense battle against the Xenophages, a deadly race of monstrous aliens. As a gesture of friendship, Venom creates a tear in the fabric of their symbiotic relationship, allowing each of them to survive separately. After bidding farewell, it appears that Venom sacrifices himself to save his best friend Eddie, a touching and poignant farewell reminiscent of Midnight Cowboy and Terminator 2.
Eddie survives the battle and is honored for his service to his country by the General, but his criminal past means he can never speak publicly about his experiences. As a compromise, he is allowed to visit New York City, a dream he shared with Venom. As he gazes upon the Statue of Liberty, a tearful Eddie Brock vows not to forget Venom, leaving the audience wondering whether their bond could be strong enough to reconnect in the future.
