U18 Afrobasket Championship: Junior D’Tigers return to winning ways against Angola

Nigeria’s Junior D’Tigers on Saturday returned to winning ways at the 2024 FIBA Under-18 Afrobasket championship with victory over Angola in Pretoria, Afrosport reports.

The Nigerian Under-18 side were beaten 70-57 by Egypt in their opening game.

Fubara Onyanabo’s team, will now play Uganda on Tuesday in their last group game as they aim to reach the knockout stages.

The Nigerian team had a difficult traveling schedule for the tournament after the South African Consulate in Abuja initially denied their visa applications.

They were later granted visas, barely 24 hours before their first game, after the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) appealed to FIBA Africa, the South African government, and Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
