Faeez Jacobs captured a second Bantamweight Championship title after a two-round victory over Vince Bembe in the main event at EFC 117 on Thursday evening, Afrosport reports.

Both men showed their athleticism from the very first bell inside the Hexagon but it was Jacobs also known as the ‘Troublemaker’ who ultimately reclaimed the belt by sinking in a triangle choke in the second round and reaffirming his status as one of Africa’s greatest champions.

Meanwhile, in the EFC 117 co-main event Willie van Rooyen secured a hard-fought victory over Kgaugelo Moitshela. After recovering from a knockdown and submission attempt in the second round, Van Rooyen came back with fierce striking flurries which continued into the third, eventually winning by Technical knockout (TKO).

In the women’s flyweight bout, Uganda’s Rebecca Amongi emerged victorious over Imke-Marischca Kuikstra, with the referee ultimately stepping in to call a halt to the bout.

One of the highlights of night was when veteran MMA fighter Pietie “Thunder” Coxen officially announced he was hanging up his gloves at the age of 42. He will however continue to be involved in the sport as he now moves into an officiating role with the national governing body.
