Brahim Diaz: Real Madrid midfielder ruled out of action for eight weeks

Morocco international Brahim Diaz will be out of action for at least eight weeks after suffering an abductor injury while playing for his club Real Madrid in Saturday’s La Liga fixture against Real Sociedad.

Diaz, who started Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad at the Anoeta, was forced off in the 25th minute and was replaced by Brazilian forward Rodrygo.

According to a statement from the Spanish club’s medical team, the 25-year-old has injured the “long abductor of his right leg” and will undergo new tests in a week for more clarity.

The medical report reads: “Following tests carried out today on our Brahim Díaz by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the abductor longus muscle of his right leg”.

The former AC Milan midfielder, who was making his first league start of the season, will miss a handful of Madrid’s La Liga fixtures and the start of their Champions League defence.

Diaz starred for Los Blancos last season, scoring 12 goals and providing nine assists in 44 matches in all competitions. This season, he has registered one goal and one assist in six games.
