The former Ajax forward joined the French club during the January transfer window and has scored two goals in his first two Ligue 1 appearances this season.
In an interview with Lavoixdunord.fr, Chevalier emphasised that Akpom has been a valuable addition to the team, noting his ability to play in multiple positions.
“I’m happy for him [Chuba Akpom]. He plays in the same position as Jonathan, but he has a different profile,” Chevalier said.
“He can even play on the wing. He’s faster, more into dribbling, and into percussion, whereas Jonas [David] is more someone who will put away and position himself well.
“He will have a bit of this off-center role. He has a certain power. He’s an alternative on long balls, something we didn’t have in our squad. We really feel an added value,” Chevalier added.
The Super Eagles-eligible player in his last two matches has recorded two goals for the French side.
