Nigerian fans took to social media to express their joy with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru after his goal handed the Super Eagles a 1-0 win over Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday, Afrosport reports.
Augustine Eguavoen’s men put the Mediterranean Knights under immense pressure and had numerous opportunities to find the back of the net. All of them however failed to hit the target.
With a draw looming likely in Uyo, which would have greatly favoured the Libyans, Dele-Bashiru came off the bench to score a sublime goal off a Moses Simon assist in the 86th minute.
It was the Lazio midfielder’s second international goal in just his fifth cap for the Super Eagles and his goal meant that Nigeria are just a win away from making it to next year’s AFCON finals in Morocco.

The same way Nwabali became our Mr. Reliable is the same way Fisayo Dele-Bashiru would be in our midfield.
2 goals in 5 National caps.
Scored against South Africa to keep our World Cup hopes high, scored against Libya too to secure three whooping points.Alex Iwobi should be…. pic.twitter.com/B7asOZ9opn

Nigeria 1-0 Libya
Sad that Ademola Lookman has been robbed of 2 goals in his last two matches due to the incompetency of African refs.
Dele Bashiru gave us our much needed 3 points.
Were you impressed with the team. pic.twitter.com/oLbN6Nb884</
