D'Tigers qualify for 2025 Afrobasket
Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, has officially secured qualification for the 2025 Afrobasket. The team clinched a 77-62 victory over Cape Verde in their final Group B qualification match, powered by a dominant fourth-quarter display.

Cape Verde edged the first quarter 26-22 but D’Tigers responded emphatically with a 26-7 run in the second quarter, establishing a 15-point halftime lead. Despite Cape Verde narrowing the gap with a 21-13 third-quarter win, Nigeria sealed the game with a commanding 16-8 finish in the final quarter.

Caleb Agada spearheaded the team’s efforts, recording 29 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. This victory propelled Nigeria to second place in the group, guaranteeing their spot in the next tournament.

Earlier in the qualification campaign, D’Tigers overcame hosts Libya with a 75-70 win before defeating Uganda 87-67, fueled by a strong fourth-quarter push. Having triumphed in all their second-window games, Nigeria is now set to compete at the 2025 Afrobasket.
