The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed fresh charges against Jude Okoye, the former manager of the defunct music duo, Psquare, following his release on a N100 million bail.
Earlier, a Federal High Court in Lagos granted Jude Okoye N100 million bail amid allegations of money laundering, raising concerns among fans and industry stakeholders.
However, Jude Okoye’s legal troubles have worsened as the EFCC has now brought additional charges against him, accusing him of financial misappropriation and fraudulent dealings.
According to an official petition, Jude Okoye, along with his company, Northside Music Limited, allegedly misappropriated a sum of $767,544.15, which was reportedly paid by Lax Records Limited for digital distribution and publishing royalties.
The petition outlines that this act is in direct violation of Sections 278 and 285 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2011, making it a case of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of funds.
Reports circulating on various news platforms indicate that Jude Okoye has been remanded in Ikoyi prison pending further court proceedings. His legal representatives are expected to challenge the new charges in court.
