Kenya’s Cross Country Runner Provisionally Suspended for Doping Offense

Emmaculate Anyango Achol, a 24-year-old cross country runner from Kenya, has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) after failing a doping test.

According to the AIU, Anyango tested positive for the banned drug testosterone and blood-boosting hormone EPO. As a result, she faces a potential ban of up to four years if found guilty. The provisional ban is expected to remain in place until the resolution of her case.

This news comes as a shock to the athletic community, as Anyango is one of the world’s top-ranked cross country runners. She recently finished fourth at the 2024 World Cross Country Championships, helping Kenya win the team gold medal.
