NFF Names Justin Madugu Interim Coach of Super Falcons – What’s Next?
BrainBurst reports that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Justin Madugu as interim head coach of the Super Falcons! Madugu takes over from Randy Waldrum, who left his role as coach of the Super Falcons in September for family-related reasons.
Madugu, 60, will oversee the team’s operations until a decision is made on the appointment of a substantive head coach. This announcement comes at a crucial time, as the Super Falcons prepare to compete in the 2024 WAFCON tournament in Morocco.
In a statement, the NFF revealed that the decision to appoint Madugu was made after the Technical and Development Sub-Committee recommended him for the role. “With the departure of Mr. Randy Waldrum, the Executive Committee also approved the recommendation of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee for Coach Justin Madugu to lead the remaining technical crew and take charge of the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, pending the appointment of a substantive Head Coach.”
Waldrum, who spent four years at the helm of the Super Falcons, led the team to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in 2020 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
