After being selected for the 68th edition of the BFI London Film Festival, the movie has also made history as the first Independent Nollywood film to screen at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival in New York. According to data from the Nigerian Box Office, the film ranked among the top performers between September 6 and 8, 2024.

The Weekend is a gripping story about Nikiya, an orphaned woman played by Uzoamaka Aniunoh, who hopes to find acceptance by her fiancé Luc’s family. However, as she gets to know them better, she uncovers dark secrets that lead to a shocking turn of events. The film’s portrayal of complex family dynamics, relationships, and psychological trauma has garnered significant attention, thanks to its outstanding storytelling.

Director Daniel Oriahi has a knack for creating psychological thrillers and horror films. Some of his notable works include Sylvia and Taxi Driver: Oko Ashewo, both of which have left audiences on the edge of their seats.
