Gladiator 2 Reactions: Ridley Scott Shows He’s Still on Top

Ridley Scott is known to get a little cranky during every new film press run because, let’s face it, he’s a curmudgeon. “Gladiator 2,” set for release on November 22, 2024, has been no exception with the British filmmaker telling Empire via Deadline that he has a “good relationship” with Russell Crowe before adding that Crowe shouldn’t “start b***hing about how he wasn’t consulted” for the sequel because “he’s dead!” (at least his character is). Scott gives “Gladiator 2” star Paul Mescal some hard-hitting advice ahead of the film’s release as well by telling him to “stop being so nervous.”

                    <p dir="ltr">Ridley Scott can't help but be a little sour about some things, whether it's blaming video games for the box office troubles of his film <em>The Last Duel</em> or making snide comments about his previous collaborator</p>
                    <strong>Russell Crowe</strong> during the press tour for this new film. But when people start giving his upcoming sci-fi epic <em>Gladiator 2</em> rave reviews, Scott would be hard-pressed to stay his gruff and grumpy self, even for a minute or two. Scott's new action-packed adventure is described as a "terrifically good time" by The Playlist's Brian Tallerico, who is as impressed with the film as someone who doesn't usually respond to the action genre.</p>
                    <p dir="ltr">Tallerico's cohort, Peter Bradshaw of <em>Guardian</em>, agrees as he hails the long-awaited sequel for being "a thrilling mix of old and new." He doesn't go into detail (he has yet to see it), but his anticipation for the Scott-directed film is piqued.</p>
