It’s a big match for Nigeria’s Flamingos on Saturday as they take on Ecuador in their second match of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria recorded a convincing 4-1 victory over New Zealand in their first match, and another win against their South American counterparts will secure their path to the knockout stage of the competition.

Flamingos’ head coach, Bankole Olowookere, isn’t taking anything for granted, however, as his team focuses on a match-by-match strategy. The Flamingos’ coach said, “Our tournament strategy is to focus on the next match, take it one match at a time. We need not look farther than the next match, and now, we have Ecuador in our sights.”

He added, “The Ecuadorians have shown, with their defeat of the host nation, that they may be debutants, but not a team to be taken for granted.” The Flamingos have the opportunity to gain all three points and move closer to the knockout stages of the tournament with a win against Ecuador. However, Olowookere wants his squad to remain focused, and there is no room for complacency.

The Nigerian football team has enjoyed tremendous support from its fans, who have been sending encouraging messages on social media.
