Formula 1 driver Sergio Pérez has put the rumors of his supposed retirement from the sport to rest before the upcoming Mexico City Grand Prix, confirming that he will be part of Red Bull Racing next year.
Pérez had reportedly planned to announce his retirement at the event, as he has been under pressure for his performance in the RB20 this year. However, he made it clear that he has a contract for the following year and intends to fulfill it.
"I didn’t want my fans to be misled into false information. I just wanted to make it clear that I will 100% be here next year. I have a contract and I will fulfil it," he said.
The Mexican racer is now focused on improving his car’s performance for the remaining races, with his last podium appearance dating back to early April in the Chinese Grand Prix.
