Havertz misses rest of season after hamstring injury

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz is set to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a torn hamstring during the team’s training camp in Dubai.

It was reported on Tuesday that the German was to be assessed after suffering the injury. It is unclear yet whether the 25-year-old will require surgery on the problem but his focus is on getting fit for the start of the 2025-26 season.

Havertz who has been a key figure for Arsenal this season, featuring in nearly every match and contributing 15 goals and five assists in 34 appearances across all competitions likely absence further compounds Arsenal’s attacking concerns. Bukayo Saka, who traveled with the squad to Dubai, is not expected to return until March following hamstring surgery in December. 

Gabriel Martinelli is also sidelined for approximately a month after suffering a hamstring injury against Newcastle United on February 5, while Gabriel Jesus faces a long recovery after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee last month.

Arsenal have struggled with injuries throughout the season, affecting multiple positions. Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mikel Merino, and Martin Ødegaard have all spent time on the sidelines at various points.  

Mikel Arteta’s side currently sit second in the Premier League, six points behind leaders Liverpool. Their upcoming fixtures include a trip to Leicester City on Saturday, followed by a home clash against West Ham United on February 22, before rounding off the month with an away game at Nottingham Forest on February 26.
