Pastor Oyakhilome on Why Some Music Ministers Left Christ Embassy

Brain BurstPastor Oyakhilome on Why Some Music Ministers Left Christ Embassy

The founder of LoveWorld, also known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has spoken out about the reasons behind the departure of several prominent gospel singers from his church.

For years, speculation surrounded the exit of these music ministers, with many reports indicating that they left due to restrictions that prevented them from ministering outside the church.

However, in a newly surfaced video, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome clarified the situation, explaining that he made the decision to stop working with these musicians because they had lost their focus on celebrating God in their ministry.

“Why did it happen? The church was turned into a party place instead of a house of prayer where God’s word was truly celebrated,” he revealed.

According to him, the gospel musicians had shifted away from their spiritual purpose, choosing to prioritize personal fame, financial gain, and entertainment over worship and ministry.

“They were not soul winners. They led praise in church, but when it was time for prayers, they would disappear. The church lost its original way of worship. Everything changed—the music in the church became worldly, they danced for themselves, celebrated themselves instead of glorifying God, and they even started charging fees for singing. They became professionals, turning ministry into a business,” he stated.

Pastor Oyakhilome explained that while he initially embraced and celebrated these music ministers, he had to make a difficult decision when he realized they refused to align with the spiritual direction he was leading.

“I told them that the Lord wanted us to return to the right path, but they had become too famous and unwilling to change. They were making some money, though it wasn’t even a large sum, yet the little they were earning was too appealing to them, and they didn’t want to follow me anymore. They chose a different path… I truly hope they repent. They are not worship leaders,” he added.
