Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has criticized his Libyan counterpart Murad Al Wuheeshi for his questionable tactics during the recent match. According to reports, Libya were close to earning an away point at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium before Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s late strike dashed their hopes.
Ranked significantly lower on the FIFA rankings, Libya managed to hold Nigeria to a draw for the majority of the match. Their tactics predominantly involved a sturdy defensive strategy and orchestrated time-wasting maneuvers.
Murad Al Wuheeshi, the goalkeeper, was a pivotal part of these time-wasting strategies, often requiring medical attention. However, these tactics were eventually turned on their head after Dele-Bashiru’s late goal.
The Chippa United goalie publicly criticized Al Wuheeshi on social media after the match. In his message, Nwabali alluded to the Libyan goalkeeper’s wisdom being misdirected during the game.
Both Nigeria and Libya are scheduled to face off again in Benghazi for the fourth matchday of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Nigeria currently leads the group with seven points. A victory here would propel them closer to securing their spot for the Morocco 2025 tournament.
We invite our readers to share their thoughts and comments on this interesting development between the Super Eagles and the Mediterranean Knights.
Who come wise pass? 😂 🦅 🇳🇬
