Former Bayern Munich and Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has agreed a deal with the England Football Association to become the new head coach of the Three Lions, Afrosport reports.

England have been without a permanent manager since Gareth Southgate’s resignation after their Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain, with U21 boss, Lee Carsley, operating on interim basis over their last few matches.

Tuchel is now set to become England’s new boss after the two parties agreed on a deal on Tuesday evening following reports of talks being initially held.

The German is not a new face to English football having previously managed Chelsea, guiding the London club to triumph in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup as well as the FIFA Club World Cup before he was sacked in September 2022.

The 51-year-old has been without a club since leaving Bayern Munich last season, as the German club failed to win a silverware for the first time in over a decade.

The former Paris Saint-Germain manager will become the third non-English coach to manage the Three Lions, joining the late Sven-Goran Eriksson and Italian Fabio Capello.
